Abstract

This pre-experimental research is aimed to find out whether there is significant effect of Relating, Experiencing, Applying, Cooperating, Transferring (REACT) Strategy Toward Students’ Vocabulary on Fifth Grade of SDN 129 Pekanbaru. Thus, the problem to be discussed is: Is there any significant effect of REACT Strategy toward vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade Students of SDN 129 Pekanbaru. The design of the research was one group pretest-posttest design and conducted at SDN 129 Pekanbaru. The researcher select one class of students to become the sample. As many as 21 students of the fifth grade students at the second semester of academic year 2017/2018 were chosen as the sample. The research sample was given treatment by using REACT Strategy, strategy as media in teaching vocabulary. The instrument used was given the multiple choice test and the obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS version 16.0. The results of the data analysis illustrates that there is significant effect of REACT strategy on the students’ vocabulary mastery. It was found tha t-calculated was 11.118 and t-table on the level of significant 5% or 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) 20 was 1.725. it was seen that Tc>Tt. It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, by using REACT Strategy was able to give positive contribution to improve students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery at the fifth grade students of SDN 129 Pekanbaru.
