Abstract
Hortatory Exposition Text is the type of text that present arguments or reasons to support an opinion. It aims to influence the reader to do something or act in a certain way. There are three generic structures of Hortatory Exposition Text , thesis statement, arguments, recommendation. The design of this study belongs to descriptive quantitative research which describes the students’ ability in writing hortatory exposition text. This research is aimed at finding the students’ ability in writing hortatory exposition text and to know the factors influencing students’ ability in writing hortatory exposition text. Based on the research finding, the result can be concluded that Students’ score in writing hortatory exposition text was very good or excellent. Based on the result of the highest score from each indicator, the main students’ ability in writing Hortatory Exposition text were. The were Content (864), Organization (660), Vocabulary (643), Language Use (686), and Mechanics (98). The total score was 2951 and the average was 81.97. The range score was excellent.
