Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the language attitude of first generation Javanese transmigrant’s parent in Simalinyang, Kampar Kiri Tengah language attitude is the feeling people have about their own language or the language of others. This research aimed to know the characteristics of the language attitude of Javanese on the first generation transmigrant’s parents in Simalinyang, and the attitude that Javanese people in Simalinyang, Kampar Kiri Tengah. The research method of the analyzing the data was descriptive qualitative research. The instruments of the research were the forms of observation and interview. There was 10 respondents have been selected. The data was collected during interview with the Javanese people in Simalinyang. The interview was recorded to collect the data on the respondents. The result of this research showed in the interview with the respondents and the researcher found that there are three characteristics of language attitude on Javanese transmigrant’s parent in Simalinyang, Kampar Kiri Tengah. The characteristics of language attitude are namely language loyality, language pride, and awareness of the language norms. The researcher found that most of the respondents having good attitude or positive attitude on their Javanese language. Most of them still use Javanese language as their daily language although some of them losing their attitude on Javanese language.
