Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the criminogenic factors of mugging in Cut Nyak Dien street, Sukajadi Subdistrict, Pekanbaru in 2017. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research that describes the actual situation in the field. The theory used is the "Routine Activities" theory from Markus Felson and Robert K. Cohen (1987). The existence of actors who are motivated to be the perpetrators of mugging, the existence of decent targets from victims who are generally women, and the absence of guards both from the prevention that is not done by the victim and the reaction of the people who tend not to care about the occurrence of mugging on the road provides an opportunity for a mugging event. It can be concluded that what is the criminogenic factor is mugging in Cut Nyak Dien street in 2017 is a victim who generally women "give" the opportunity by displaying their valuables while riding a motorcycle or walking alone, so that mugging often occurs on the road.
