Abstract

In the modern era is still the existence of ilmu gendam in the community of white Land, there are more dominated by ethnic Malays. And most of the people still believe in and practice the mystical or occult sciences. As the Malays, the majority of the inhabitants are Muslim. According to them the religion of islam isthe religion of the Malay people. because that's a lot of cultural traditions and customs of the ethnic Malays of the white diTanah adapted to the culture and teachings of islam. But though still so they still do some rituals include animism, ilmu gendam. The ilmu gendam studied with the theory of differential association Theory. This type of research using qualitative research with ethnographic approach i.e. research which describes about what there is at the time of research by means of collecting data and mengklasifikasinnya so you can get fit analysis of the problems encountered. results of the study that the development of science gendam in the White Ground very rapidly and the number of victims fell. People have tried to report but to no avail. And the days of the development of the science of gendam intensified and the public ever think of it already, cause factor of occurrence of crime science gendam i.e. low economic and educational factors, environmental factors, understanding of the factors differently, the religious factor in the scrutiny of the law.
