Abstract

This study aims to find out and explain the role of village-owned enterprises in encouraging the village economy in the Mekong village of the western high cliff district of the Meranti Islands Regency. Appraisal indicators used include encouraging the development of the village economy, increasing creativity and business opportunities,encouraging the development of informal sector micro businesses, as a source of original village income, as a source of funds allocated, increasing business opportunities, and as an economic service center. With the quantitative method, there are two sampling techniques used in this study, namely the census technique because the population of the village government apparatus and the village-owned business entities are small and the purposive sampling technique is the method of sample withdrawal that evaluates the subject based on specific criteria set by the researcher. The results of this study indicate that BUMDes Mekong Lestari plays a good role in encouraging the village economy. Although in terms of planning and programs have not been managed properly due to lack of business capital and human resources.
