Abstract

The purpose of research to determine the development of natural attractions by the Department of Tourism and Culture Kampar regency and factors inhibiting the development of natural attractions by the Department of Tourism and Culture Kampar regency. Type of descriptive survey research using quantitative methods. While research population Head of Department of Tourism and Culture, Head of Development of Parisiwata Destination and Employee, community of natural tourism object in District XIII Koto Kampar with census sampling technique and purposive sampling technique or sampling with certain purpose. Types and sources of data used primary data and secondary data, while data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Collected data are classified according to type and shape then presented in tabular form which then analyzed descriptively. The results of research and discussion concluded that the development of natural attractions by the Department of Tourism and Culture Kampar District less implemented. This is because all indicators (5) used as a benchmark in this study only 1 indicator is implemented, while the rest (4) indicator entirely in the category less implemented. Constraints faced in the development of natural attractions by the Department of Tourism and Culture Kampar Regency is a policy that is not in harmony with the potential that exists, the budget is very limited or minimal available. The advice given in this research should be the Regional Government to formulate a policy on the development of potential natural tourism object destinations, to collect data, to describe, to make decisions on appropriate steps to develop natural tourism destinations, and to cooperate with local community groups to maintain and managing a tourist attraction supported from the development of local government. The community contributes to maintaining and managing natural attractions and making it a friendly tourist attraction.
