Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the Kuantan Singingi District Education, Youth and Sports Service in the Development of Student Athletes and the obstacles faced by the Kuantan Singingi District Education, Youth and Sports Service in the Development of Student Athletes. This type of research is a descriptive survey through a quantitative approach. The population and sample of this study were 27 people. The sampling technique is carried out in census and pusposive sampling techniques. Types and sources of data used primary data and secondary data, while data collection is done through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. After the data are obtained from the location of the study, then the data are grouped according to the qualifications of the data, then quantitative calculations are then carried out compared with the existing references and then analyzed in the form of a clear and concise description. The results of the study revealed that the Education, Youth and Sports Service of Kuantan Singingi Regency in the Development of Student Athletes as a whole was in the role category. Where the Kuantan Singingi District Education, Youth and Sports Agency has introduced sports (identifying and establishing regional flagship sports), monitoring (monitoring, coordinating and recommending), guiding (data collection, selection, determination), talent development (preparing trainers, programs training, facilities and infrastructure, funding, and implementation of coaching), improvement in performance (match tests, sporting events, and evaluation of achievement of results). In fostering student athletes at the Education, Youth and Sports Agency of Kuantan Singingi Regency, there are obstacles in the form of coordination between lines, incomplete infrastructure, and the distance of student athletes
