Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the role of Food Security Service, Food Plants and Horticulture of Pelalawan Regency in increasing rice production potential in Pangkalan Kuras Subdistrict and barriers to increase rice production potential. This type of research is descriptive survey with quantitative method source. Collecting research data by observation, interview, and questionnaire. After the data obtained, then the data are grouped according to data qualification, then done quantitative calculations and then performed analysis in the form of description clearly and briefly. Based on the results of research known Food Dept., Food Crops and Horticulture Pelalawan District in increasing the potential of rice production in Kecamatan Pangkalan Kuras has been running well and is in the role category. Where the Food Security, Food and Horticulture Agency of Pelalawan Regency has compiled work plan, work program, and budget, conduct guidance of quality improvement and production, and also guidance the application of cultivation technology to rice farmers. While the constraints of Food Security, Food and Horticultural Agency of Pelalawan Regency in increasing the potential of paddy production in Pangkalan Kuras Sub-district is the resource of farmers is still not good, the extension of quality and quantity that need to be improved, the source of funds or budget is not adequate, and the mastery of the use of technology that has not been maximized.
