Abstract

The increased number of population in Tampan sub districts caused the enchancment activity of community services from social and economic aspects. The increase of these activities will make a centrality of activities known as the center of growth and then from the center of growth will have an influence on urban and socio-economic development of Tampan sub districts. This study aims to identify the influence of growth centers on urban development from the perspective of social and economic aspects from people of Tampan sub districs. In conducting this research steps taken by: to identify the condition of land use change of Tampan sub districts, to calculate the level of people need's for socioeconomic facilities in Tampan sub districts and to identify the influence of the growth center on the city and socio-economic development of the community in Tampan sub districts. The method used in study was to cover land use maps, scalogram analysis and centrality index to find out the growth centers and central growth hierarchy and statistical analysis to assess the community's assessment of the growth center's influence through the questionnaire. The results of this study, namely the influence of growth centers on urban development is the increase in regional revenue, equalize the development of the city. Its influence on the socio-economic community is the change of time discipline, thinking of travel or movement with the center of growth, raising awareness of education, social status, income of the community business opportunities and jobs.
