Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of souvenir centers in increasing the income of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pekanbaru City and identify obstacles that affect the effectiveness of their partnerships. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews with eight informants, consisting of three souvenir center managers and five partner MSMEs. Data analysis was conducted using NVivo software through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that souvenir centers play a role in six main aspects, namely increasing MSME turnover by 15–50%, expanding market access, especially for tourists, supporting digital promotions, strengthening production capacity, improving product quality and standardization, and providing a distribution platform without initial costs. However, the effectiveness of the partnership still faces several obstacles, such as cash flow constraints due to the consignment system, limited human resources and production capacity, unmet product legality, intense competition, and payment models that are not yet fully beneficial to all parties. It can be concluded that souvenir centers have the potential to act as a catalyst for MSME growth in Pekanbaru City. However, improvements to the payment system, legal assistance, and human resource capacity building are needed to ensure optimal and sustainable partnerships.
