Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the influence of strong leadership and governance, sustainability awareness and education, as well as stakeholder involvement and participation on the implementation of the Green Campus concept, and how this implementation affects environmental sustainability performance in higher education institutions in Pekanbaru. This study involved lecturers and staff from higher education institutions in Pekanbaru. A total of 158 respondents were selected using a convenience sampling method. Data were collected through an online survey. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), assisted by SmartPLS 4 software, was employed to analyze the data. The results indicate that the implementation of Green Campus is positively and significantly influenced by strong leadership and governance, sustainability awareness and education, and stakeholder involvement and participation. Furthermore, the findings demonstrate that Green Campus implementation has a positive and significant impact on environmental sustainability performance in higher education institutions. Overall, this study confirms that the successful implementation of Green Campus principles is supported by effective leadership and active participation from all stakeholders.
