Abstract

The objectives of this research were to analyze: (1) the characteristics of farmers and the profile of lowland rice farming, (2) production costs, revenue, income, and farming efficiency, and (3) the factors influencing rice production under Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and non-IPM systems in Kampar Regency. This research was carried out over six months, from April to September, in Kampar Regency. A total of 126 farmers were selected using a stratified random sampling method. The study employed a quantitative approach with a survey method, utilizing both primary and secondary data. The analytical methods used were descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression based on the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results showed that the average age of farmers was 42 years, with an average education level of 9.32 years, 17 years of farming experience, and an average household size of three persons. The average harvested area was 0.5 hectares, with most farmers cultivating their own land and predominantly using the IR 48 variety. The average production cost was IDR 4,360 per farming unit per planting season, with revenue of IDR 13,073,512 and income of IDR 6,197,901, resulting in an RCR of 2.07.Partially, in the IPM system, land area, seeds, and fertilizers significantly and positively affected production, while labor was not significant. In the non-IPM system, land area, seeds, and pesticides had a significant positive effect, whereas fertilizers and labor were not significant. Therefore, farmers are encouraged to optimize the use of high-quality seeds and appropriate fertilizer application, and non-IPM farmers are advised to reduce excessive chemical pesticide use and adopt environmentally friendly practices to improve efficiency and profitability.
