Abstract

Pineapple is one of the leading agricultural commodities cultivated in Kualu Nanas Village, Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency. This study aims to: (1) identify the characteristics of members involved in the pineapple supply chain, (2) analyze the condition of the pineapple supply chain using the Food Supply Chain Network (FSCN) framework, and (3) evaluate the performance of the pineapple supply chain in Kualu Nanas Village, Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The research was conducted in Kualu Nanas Village, Tambang Subdistrict, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, for six months from March to August 2025. The method used was a survey method with a sampling technique (Simple Random Sampling) of 30 farmers, as well as Purposive Sampling of 5 collector traders, 5 retail traders, and 5 consumers each. Data analysis was carried out descriptively both qualitatively and quantitatively. The results show that the characteristics of farmers and traders indicate they are mostly within the productive age group. The average years of education are 9 years for farmers, 11 years for collectors, and 10 years for retailers. The average number of family dependents is 4 for farmers, 3 for collectors, and 4 for retailers. The average farming experience is 8 years, while collectors have 8 years and retailers 11 years of business experience. Based on the FSCN framework, the pineapple marketing system in Kualu Nanas Village has not yet implemented modern supply chain management, as seen from aspects such as partner selection, contractual agreements, transaction systems, government policy support, and supply chain resources. The supply chain lacks clear objectives, business processes are not integrated, and management practices have not been properly implemented. Based on the performance analysis across four distribution channels, the results indicate that Channel I (farmer → direct consumer) has a cost of IDR 989 per fruit, a margin of IDR 7,000 per fruit, the highest profit of IDR 7,011 per fruit, efficiency of 12.36%, and a farmer’s share of 100%. Channel II (farmer → collector → retailer → consumer) has a cost of IDR 1,1 60 per fruit, a margin of IDR 7,000 per fruit, a profit of IDR 5,840 per fruit, efficiency of 8.92%, and a farmer’s share of 46.15%. Channel III (farmer → retailer → consumer) has a cost of IDR 1,374 per fruit, a profit of IDR 5,126 per fruit, efficiency of 10.57%, and a farmer’s share of 50%. Channel IV (farmer → agroindustry) has the lowest cost of IDR 135 per fruit, a profit of IDR 5,865 per fruit, the highest efficiency of 2.26%, and a farmer’s share of 100%. All channels are categorized as efficient (efficiency <33% and farmer’s share >40%).
