Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of financial ratios on stock returns in banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2020–2023 period. The independent variables used in this study are Return on Assets (ROA), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), and Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO), while the dependent variable is stock return. The research method used is a quantitative method with an associative approach. The data used are secondary data obtained from the financial statements of banking companies. The sample in this study consists of 37 companies selected using purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS. The results show that partially, Return on Assets (ROA), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) have a significant effect on stock returns. Meanwhile, Operating Expenses to Operating Income (BOPO) does not have a significant effect on stock returns. Simultaneously, all independent variables have an effect on stock returns. In conclusion, financial performance as measured by profitability, solvency, and liquidity ratios plays an important role in influencing stock returns in banking companies. Therefore, companies are expected to improve their financial performance in order to attract investors.
