Abstract
Analyze the performance of steam turbines under different operational conditions, focusing primarily on efficiency and power output. The methodology used includes data collection at the research site, data processing based on parameters such as pressure, temperature, and steam flow rate, and performance analysis before and after overhaul. The results of the study showed that the efficiency of the steam turbine increased from 61.29% to 79.51% after major maintenance (overhaul). The decrease in specific fuel consumption (SFC) from 1.68 kg/kWh to 1.25 kg/kWh reflects an increase in the efficiency of the electricity generation process. At maximum load (100%), the output power reached 6404.69 kW, which indicates the optimal capacity of the turbine in producing its energy. The conclusion of this study confirms that system maintenance and optimization in steam turbine operations have a significant positive impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of electricity generation at the Tanjung Balai Karimun PLTU. This study also provides recommendations for further research on new technologies and optimization methods that can drive sustainable efficiency improvements.
