Abstract

The Siak Sri Indrapura Palace is a historic building with high cultural value and a symbol of the identity of the Siak community in Riau. In recent years, the increase in tourist visits to the Siak Palace has led to problems such as vandalism and inappropriate behavior, such as touching artifacts without permission and entering restricted areas. These issues indicate a lack of understanding and appreciation for the building's historical and cultural value, necessitating an effective preservation strategy. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach, then analyzed the data using a Likert scale to objectively measure visitor perceptions and satisfaction. Furthermore, an analysis of internal and external factors influencing the building's preservation was conducted using the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) method. The SWOT method was chosen because it allows for systematic identification of the Siak Palace's internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats from the external environment, allowing for the development of a realistic and sustainable preservation strategy. The results showed that visitors were predominantly young adults from outside the Siak District, primarily motivated by recreation. Perceptions of the Palace's physical appearance were very positive, with an average score of 85.6% for aspects of architecture, spatial planning, landscape, and building materials. Guided tours and selfies received high praise at 80.4%, enhancing the visitor experience at the site. The historical significance and Malay cultural identity inherent in the Palace earned a score of 87.4%, affirming the Palace's role as a cultural icon and witness to history. In terms of emotional impact, visitors demonstrated a strong desire to return and recommend the site praise at 85,7%. Based on the SWOT analysis, recommended preservation strategies include improving facilities, digital promotion, providing educational tour packages, and maintaining sustainability to support the preservation of the Siak Palace's cultural heritage.
