Abstract
The tertiary recovery stage is the final phase of oil production which involves the injection of additional chemicals into the injection water to improve the efficiency of oil acquisition. Various Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods have been developed, such as gas, thermal, and chemical injection (alkalis, surfactants, and polymers). One of the important innovations is ASP (Alkali–Surfactant– Polymer) injection, which emerged from the development of previous EOR technologies through research and field applications. Field X experienced a decrease in production due to natural depletion and an increase in water cut due to continuous water injection. Although at first the waterflooding method was effective in increasing production, its sweeping efficiency declined over time. This field is still relatively economical with a Recovery Factor of 45.5%. This study conducted a reservoir simulation using CMG (Computer Modelling Group) Software with STARS simulator and Inverted 5-Spot model. The reservoir used is a heterogeneous sandstone with variations in permeability and porosity on each grid. The simulation was carried out for 20 years (2025–2045) with six ASP flooding injection scenarios. The results showed that AOS surfactants, when combined with alkaline (Na₂CO₃) and polymers (HPAM), significantly increased the Recovery Factor, Cumulative Oil Production, and improved the permeability curve, signaling a change in rock wettability. Scenario 6 is the most optimal with a combination of Na₂CO₃ 0.75 wt%, AOS 0.3 wt%, and HPAM 1200 ppm, resulting in a Recovery Factor of 83.99%, much higher than waterflooding (45.5%) and other scenarios (57–81%).
