Abstract
Declining oil production in Indonesia's mature fields remains a challenge despite their large oil reserves. One solution is Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) flooding, which can increase oil recovery by reducing interfacial tension (IFT), changing wettability, and increasing the viscosity of the flooding fluid. However, its effectiveness is greatly influenced by reservoir heterogeneity, especially variations in porosity and permeability, which reduce sweeping efficiency. This study aims to analyze the effect of reservoir heterogeneity on ASP flooding performance and determine the optimal injection fluid design. The method used is three-dimensional reservoir modeling with the Computer Modelling Group (CMG) Stars simulator with a black-oil model. Simulations were conducted with various heterogeneity scenarios and variations in the concentration of anionic surfactant AEC, HPAM polymer, and Na2CO3 alkali to obtain the best ASP flooding design for increasing oil recovery. The results show that under homogeneous reservoir conditions (Lk = 0), the RF value is at its highest point, around 91.33%, while under the most heterogeneous conditions (Lk = 0.6), the RF decreases to 75.5%. This downward trend indicates that higher reservoir heterogeneity affects fluid flow within the reservoir and reduces the effectiveness of ASP flooding in increasing oil recovery. The combination of 0.1wt% Na2CO3, 1wt%AEC, and 2000 ppm Hpam showed the highest increase in oil recovery at each level of heterogeneity.
