Abstract

In order to increase oil productivity, appropriate measures and planning are required to achieve this goal by adding wells. Field C is one of the fields where hydrocarbon productivity needs to be increased. The reservoir conditions in Field C are characterized by low reservoir quality, so one of the methods that will be used to increase production is to add wells. The well to be added to Field C is the horizontal well X. In designing the horizontal well X, strong supporting parameters are required, such as trajectory parameters, casing design, and the right bottom hole assembly (BHA) design, so that an accurate design can be created as a reference for successful drilling. The results of the simulation obtained for detailed horizontal drilling planning are in the form of an optimal trajectory design planned using a Build Section profile calculated using the Minimum Curvature method, starting from the Kick-Off Point (KOP) at 100 ft MD to determine the azimuth and the second Build and Hold Section to build the lateral section angle, which is then constructed with a DLS of 3.46°/ 100 ft to reach the horizontal section at a depth of 3788 ft TVD. To ensure well integrity, the casing design is based on burst, collapse, tension, and triaxial stress load analysis, resulting in a configuration of 18-5/8“ Surface Casing, 13-3/8” Intermediate Casing, 9-5/8“ Production Casing, and 5” Production Liner. This trajectory achievement is supported by the results of an optimal BHA design, through torque graph analysis to ensure low friction, effective tension graph to ensure efficient WOB transfer, and buckling analysis to determine safe operational limits. The combination of graphs results in a stable BHA capable of reaching drilling targets with minimal risk of failure.
