Abstract
In the oil and gas production process, water is also produced to the surface. Over time, more water is produced compared to oil. The water produced from the well must undergo treatment because it is classified as waste. The water treatment process is very important to ensure that the water to be discharged does not contain harmful substances to the environment and is safe for various applications. This study has explored the potential of jenitri as a natural agent in water treatment. The materials used in this study are jenitri and jenitri chemically activated using potassium hydroxide. The testing method involves using jenitri and jenitri activated with KOH as biosorbents and filtration tests with variations in temperature. This study aims to ensure that the treatment of produced water meets quality standards so that the produced water can be discharged into surface water bodies or reinjected. The optimal result was obtained from the JNTRKH sample at 40°C with turbidity and TDS reductions of 93.98% and 86.2%, respectively.
