Abstract

This study was motivated by the phenomenon of high workloads at State Savings Bank (in Indonesian, it is known as Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN)) Sharia Branch Office of Pekanbaru due to target demands which could positively or negatively influence employee performance, depending on the degree to which the workload matched their capacity. The variables examined in this study were workload as the independent variable and employee performance as the dependent variable. This study aimed to determine the influence of workload on employee performance at the BTN Sharia Branch Office of Pekanbaru. This was a quantitative study with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 60 respondents who were employees of the BTN Sharia Branch Office of Pekanbaru. The data analysis technique of the study was simple linear regression. The results of the t-test showed that there was a significant influence of workload on employee performance at the BTN Sharia Branch Office of Pekanbaru. The value of t-count 6.762 > t-table 1.671 with a significance level of 0.01 <0.05, meaning that the higher the workload, the higher the employee performance at the BTN Sharia Branch Office of Pekanbaru. Meanwhile, the results of correlation coefficient was 0.919 which indicated that there was a fairly strong relationship between the two variables. The coefficient of the workload variable was 84.2%, while the remaining 15.8% was influenced by other variables not included in this study.
