Abstract

This study was motivated by the increasing economic growth in Pekanbaru City, evidenced by the increase in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which were the backbone of the country's economy. Most MSMEs struggled to expand their businesses due to limited capital. Banks that had access to capital for MSMEs, especially PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) of Pekanbaru Sudirman Branch Office could take a role in providing working capital to MSMEs so that they can overcome the problem of limited capital that had been experienced by the MSMEs. The problem formulation of the study: How was the role of micro-finance products of PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) of Pekanbaru Sudirman Branch Office in improving the economic level of MSMEs in Pekanbaru City. The aim of the study was to determine the role of micro-finance products of PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) of Pekanbaru Sudirman Branch Office in improving the economic level of MSMEs in Pekanbaru City. This was a field study with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data sources of the study were primary and secondary data. The data collection techniques of the study were observation, interviews, and documentation from one bank representative and four customers. A qualitative approach was used in data analysis. The results of the study showed that the micro-finance products of PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) of Pekanbaru Sudirman Branch Office played a crucial role in improving the economic level of the MSMEs. Initially, the MSMEs only generated limited profit, but after obtaining additional capital from the micro-finance products, the MSMEs were able to expand their businesses and fulfilled customer orders. This, in turn, enabled the MSMEs to generate higher profits and improve their well-being
