Abstract

Introduction to the hijaiyah letters is important for children and should begin early as a foundation for reciting the Quran. One way to facilitate children's recognition and reading of the hijaiyah letters is through the use of learning media. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of Hijaiyah Letter Wayang (Leather Puppet) Game in improving the ability to read the hijaiyah letters at Mak Ongah Quran Learning Center in Terbangiang Village, Bandar Petalangan District, Pelalawan Regency. This was an experimental study with a pre-experimental, one-group pre-test-posttest design with a sample of 15 children aged 4-6 years. The data collection tecniques of the study were tests and documentation. The statistical analysis was conducted using normality tests and ttests. The results of the study concluded that the Hijaiyah letter Wayang game was effective in improving reading skill at the Mak Ongah Quran learning center.
