Abstract

The problems of the study were the lack of self-awareness and the habit of students disrespecting their peers and teachers in the school environment. The problem formulations of the study were: What were the level of teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies and the level of students’ morals at SMAN 2 Bengkalis? Was there an influence of teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies on students’ morals at SMAN 2 Bengkalis? The aim of the study was to determine the level of teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies and the level of students’ morals at SMAN 2 Bengkalis. This was a quantitative correlational study. The population of the study consisted of students in grade XII. The saturated sampling was used to select the sample. The results of the study showed that the alternative hypothesis stating that there was an influence of teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies on students’ morals was accepted with a significance value of 0.047. This indicated that there was a little influence of teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies on students’ morals which was at a moderate level (0.184 or 18.4%). If improved and implemented, it could improve students’ morals at SMAN 2 Bengkalis. Therefore, the teachers’ Islamic psychosocial and personal competencies were quite helpful in improving students’ morals.
