Abstract

This study aimed to analyze public understanding of Zakat in agriculture (a study on oil palm farmers in Tanjung Mas Village, Kampar Kiri District, Kampar Regency). This was a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques of the study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data processing techniques simplified the overall data to make it easier to read, interpret, evaluate, and draw conclusions. The results of the study showed that the public understanding of zakat on oil palm farming in Tanjung Mas Village was still relatively low. This was proven by the fact that many farmers were still unaware of the provisions for zakat on oil palm farming, such as the nisab (the minimum threshold), the amount of zakat, and the timing of zakat payments in accordance with Islamic law. Factors influencing this level of understanding were internal factors (age, experience, intelligence, and gender) and external factors (education, occupation, economic situation, environment, and information).
