Abstract

This study, entitled “School Efforts in Preventing Disciplinary Violations at SMP Yabri Terpadu Pekanbaru”, was conducted to address the increasing cases of student misconduct such as truancy, using mobile phones in class, smoking, and fighting, which disrupt the learning environment. The research aims to identify the preventive measures implemented by the school and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors in their application. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach using interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants consisted of the principal, guidance and counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. The results show that the school carries out three levels of prevention: primary prevention through character education and school regulations, secondary prevention through counseling and student guidance, and tertiary prevention by providing special mentoring for offenders. These efforts are supported by teachers’ roles and parental cooperation but are hindered by limited resources and external environmental influences. In conclusion, the preventive strategies implemented by SMP Yabri Terpadu have proven effective in reducing student disciplinary violations.
