Abstract

One of the wealth of the nation Indonesia is going to the rich culture and customs, by maintaining a culture means keeping the nation's wealth. This study aims to determine the role of the head of the tribe, their chief task, their chief obstacle, and penalties are given to people who perform marriages of the tribes. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques in this study using the technique of interview, observation and documentation. These results indicate that the chiefs have a role in conveying the message of the tribal marriage ban. Socialization is done more directed at repressive socialization that emphasize adherence to the message. And the chiefs and community socialization conduct socialization phase starting from the preparation stage, the stage of imitation, the stage ready to act and acceptance phase. In the process of socialization chiefs communicated to the public in the form of speech wedding diacara also other events to convey the history and social norms and sanctions of violations of the tribes marriage. Another task is the tribal leader as the public protector, especially in terms of more specific which regulate marriage and provide a letter of introduction to people who are getting married. Barriers are also found in the process of socialization and communication of messages prohibition of marriage of the tribes, the language barrier and the lack of functionality of traditional houses as a place to socialize Law enforcement is also the role of chiefs who would impose sanctions if people violate the prohibition messages marriages of the tribes, the sanctions provided good sanctions material is also non-material sanctions.
