Abstract

One of the roles of the Village Government is to improve the village economy and village original income, one way of doing this is through managing village markets. However, the Village Government has not maximized its market management due to limited capacity and allocated budget. The role of the Pasar Kuala Semundam Village Government in managing traditional markets is inseparable from the roles of Stabilizer, Innovator, and Pioneer, which contribute to the success of market management. The purpose of this study was to identify and identify factors inhibiting the Village Government's role in managing the Kuala Semundam Village Market, Kuala Semundam Village, Bandar Petalangan District, Pelalawan Regency. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Discussion: Market management by the Village Government is not optimal, with the placement of stalls, kiosks, and street vendors not being properly targeted, thus disrupting market activities. Market improvements have not been implemented, and market levy revenue has not increased. The researcher recommends that the Village Government improve market management capabilities, provide kiosks, stalls, and street vendors in appropriate locations, and evaluate market developments to increase market revenue.
