Abstract
The background of this study focuses on the importance of innovation in learning methods to improve student learning outcomes, especially in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subjects in elementary schools. At SD Negeri 160 Pekanbaru, initial observations showed low motivation and understanding among students, with only 33.33% of them achieving a passing grade in daily tests. To address this issue, this study aims to analyze the application of the reciprocal teaching learning model as a solution that is expected to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, involving 27 students as participants. The application of the reciprocal teaching model, which includes summarizing, questioning, clarifying, and predicting techniques, proved effective in increasing teacher and student activity. The results of the study show a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 59.07 in the pre-cycle to 70.37 in cycle I, and reaching 84.81 in cycle II, as well as a classical mastery level of 78%. These findings confirm that the reciprocal teaching model can improve student learning outcomes and provide practical contributions for teachers in implementing the independent curriculum. This study recommends the application of interactive and creative learning models to further improve student motivation and learning outcomes at the elementary school level.
