Abstract

Employee attendance is one of the main indicators in assessing discipline and performance in the work environment, including in village offices. Conventional attendance systems that are still widely used, such as manual signatures, are vulnerable to fraud and inefficiency. This study aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)based attendance system integrated with a fingerprint sensor and a web application to improve the efficiency and accuracy of employee attendance recording. The method used is the Waterfall software development model, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and literature studies. This system utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller, an AS608 fingerprint sensor, and a DS3231 RTC module for time recording. Attendance data is sent in real-time to a Laravel-based web application for display and recapitulation. Test results show that the system can run well, accurately, and efficiently in detecting and recording user attendance biometrically. Implementation was carried out at the Tandun Village Office, and the system has proven to be able to overcome manual attendance problems and provide better transparency of attendance data. This system can be an effective solution that can be replicated in other work environments, both in the government and private sectors.
