Abstract

This research aims to develop a mobile-based Augmented Reality (AR) shoe catalog application as an innovative, interactive, and informative digital promotion tool. The application allows users to view 3D shoe models in real-time within their real environment through a smartphone camera. The development method used is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), consisting of six stages: Concept, Design, Material Collecting, Assembly, Testing, and Distribution. Testing was conducted using blackbox testing, distance testing, lighting condition testing, object tracking, and a user satisfaction survey through a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results show that the application performs optimally at a distance of 20–200 cm and light intensity of 45–2000 lux. Additionally, simple textured 3D objects are more stable than complex stacked ones. User satisfaction testing involving 29 respondents resulted in a score of 93.3%, indicating that the application was well-received in terms of ease of use, visual appeal, and usefulness. Therefore, this application is suitable to be used as a digital promotional medium for shoe catalogs.
