Abstract
Double aging is a variation of the aging process designed to further optimize the mechanical properties of the alloy. One of the aluminum alloys that is often used is Aluminum 7075. This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the effect of the double aging process on the mechanical properties of Aluminum 7075, as well as to contribute to the development of superior materials in industrial applications that require high performance and optimal durability. In this study, the double aging process applied includes two aging stages with temperature variations of 140°C, 160°C and 180°C with a certain time. The highest yield strength test on specimen 5 was 217.1 MPa, because it shows that the higher the heating temperature, the greater the dislocation can occur if there is an external force or in other words the force required to deform plastically will be greater, if the force required is greater, the yield strength value will be higher. The highest tensile strength test after being given double aging treatment was on specimen 5 at 353.60 MPa with a hardness value (Brinell) of 65.22 BHN. This shows that the higher the heating temperature, the more evenly the Al crystals will spread so that the tensile strength and hardness values of BHN will be higher. This event can be seen from the microstructure test, where precipitation has formed on Aluminum 7075 at a temperature of 180°C.
