Abstract

The planning of a reservoir as an alternative solution to meet irrigation water needs in Padang Kunik Village, Kuantan Singingi Regency. This village relies on a rain-fed irrigation system that often experiences water deficits during the dry season, so a technical solution is needed to ensure water availability throughout the year. The research methods include evapotranspiration analysis using the Penman method, calculation of irrigation water needs based on the KP-01 concept, and evaluation of water availability using the Simple Water Balance method. The analysis results show that the total irrigation water requirement reaches 1,288,687.27 m³, while the water availability is only 1,221,945.76 m³, resulting in a deficit of 66,741.51 m³. To address this, the construction of a small reservoir with dimensions of 210 m long, 184.5 m wide, and 3 m high, which can accommodate 90,104.68 m³ of water. This reservoir not only meets the water deficit but also provides a water reserve of 23,363.17 m³. This study concludes that reservoirs can be an effective solution to address irrigation water shortages and increase agricultural productivity in Padang Kunik Village. Further recommendations include adapting the design to local conditions and encouraging active community participation in reservoir maintenance.
