Abstract

This research originated from the reality that many children are still unable to read the Qur'an. Reading is a language skill that is no less important than other language skills. Reading skill is considered a subject that offers great opportunities for improvement and development, as reading materials are available in various fields of knowledge and can be practiced anywhere and anytime. Therefore, reading has become one of the core focuses in the teaching of foreign languages, including Arabic. As such, Arabic reading skills should receive significant attention and should not merely be seen as a preparatory phase for speaking and writing skills. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the Saminiyah method in enhancing Arabic reading skills in children. This study employed an experimental method to compare the impact of the Saminiyah method on children's reading development. The research population and sample consisted of fifty children in the experimental class. Data were collected using a testing method, specifically through pre-tests and post-tests. This study involved two variables: variable X is the "Saminiyah method," and variable Y is the "enhancement of Arabic reading skills." Based on the research results, it was found that the use of the Saminiyah method had a significant effect on improving children's Arabic reading skills. This was evident from the average pre-test score of 55.10 with a standard deviation of 18.084, and the average post-test score of 78.20 with a standard deviation of 13.506. It can thus be concluded that the average Arabic reading skill of the children increased by 23.10 after using the Saminiyah method. Consequently, the first hypothesis stating that the Saminiyah method has an effect on students' reading skills was proven true.
