Abstract

The Indonesian Zakat Initiative (IZI) of Riau representative office is a national zakat institution established with the aim of managing zakat and other religious donations professionally, effectively, and in accordance with sharia to empower the community and improve social welfare. One of the potentials of the Indonesian Zakat Initiative of Riau representative office is the alms fund collected from the musaddiq, through programs of the Indonesian Zakat Initiative (IZI) of Riau representative office namely the money tin of perpetual (jariyah) alms. The alms fund is distributed to several programs of the Indonesian Zakat Initiative (IZI) of Riau representative office in the form of education, preaching, health, economy, and social. This study aimed to investigate the strategies for collecting perpetual alms in money tins of the Indonesian Zakat Initiative (IZI) of Riau Representative Office. This was a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection techniques of the study were observation, interviews, and documentation. The data sources of the study were from primary and secondary data with the number of informants was 7 people. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the collection of perpetual alms in money tins of the Indonesian zakat initiative of Riau representative had run well and effectively. The strategies included determining accurate musaddiq segments and targets, professional recruitment and management of Amil, and implementing operational standards in accordance with the supervisory board. In addition, IZI was also active in providing socialization and education related to zakat, infaq, and alms, especially the program of the money tin of perpetual alms. Good communication with the musaddiq was one of the factors for the success of the collection, that the IZI routinely contacted donors via telephone and WhatsApp to strengthen ties and remind them to give alms. The money tin pick-up services and payment options via bank transfer were also strategies that increased the convenience for donors in distributing their donations.
