Abstract

Basically, in Article 303 of the Criminal Code, there are regulations governing the crime of gambling, but this crime of gambling often occurs in Indonesia because this act is very easy to do anywhere and is done by anyone, this crime is difficult to prove the crime if there is no clear evidence, that basically this crime is caused by several important factors in life that make someone do this act. The formulation of the problem in this study is, First, How are the Police's Efforts in Overcoming Gambling Crimes in the Riau Police Jurisdiction. Second, What are the Police's Obstacles in Reducing Gambling Cases in the Riau Police Jurisdiction. The type of research that the author uses in this study is empirical research, while the data and data sources that the author uses are primary data, namely obtained by going directly to the field and secondary data, namely obtained from the literature search process. The data collection technique that the author uses is interviews. From the results of the research and discussion that the author found, namely: First, there are various efforts made by the police in overcoming this gambling crime such as repressive, curative, preventive efforts, and there are also various police efforts to prevent this crime from happening, second, there are several inhibiting factors for the police in reducing this crime, namely the first is the economy, the second is the habit factor, the third is the human resource factor, the fourth is the trial and error factor, the fifth is the environmental factor, the sixth is the adequate facility factor
