Abstract

Everyone who wants to live a life in a household always longs for a harmonious life. But sometimes in reality, not all of a person's family life is harmonious. When there is a problem in the household, sometimes it is not solved well, and often even by using unethical and immoral methods, one of these methods is using violence. Domestic violence can be inflicted on anyone including husband, wife, and children. But the phenomenon that often occurs is violence by the husband against the wife. From this we can conclude that most of the victims of domestic violence are women, such as some cases of domestic physical violence that occurred at the Bengkalis Police With this reason, the author proposes the formulation of the problem as follows: how the role of the police in dealing with the crime of physical violence is reviewed from Law No. 23 of 2004 about the elimination of domestic violence And what are the factors that cause physical violence in the household in the bengkalis police area. his thesis was made using a qualitative approach method, the research specification is empirical law, the research object used an interview with 2 investigators at the Bengkalis Police Station who handled the domestic violence case. Data collection techniques using literature studies related to the role of the police in providing countermeasures for victims of domestic violence. The result of the research from this thesis is that the occurrence of domestic violence at the Bengkalis police station is caused by economic factors and thirdparty factors in domestic relationships, thus triggering conflicts between husband and wife which leads to violence committed by the husband. The response to acts of violence in the family and household sphere is resolved through a penal and non-penal approach must also be supported by increasing legal awareness of the community as regulated in law number 23 of 2004 concerning the prevention of domestic violence.
