Abstract
The implementation of a car rental agreement that creates rights and obligations between the two parties reciprocally, indirectly demands that both parties in its implementation are bound by what has been agreed. In general, the obstacles that occur in the obligations of both parties in the implementation of the rental agreement at BK Group Wisata are generally defaults by the lessee, such as delays in returning the car (research object) where the lessee returns the car past the specified time period or damage to the car caused by the lessee when using the car. The problems that will be discussed in this research are: How is the legal protection for business actors in car rental services at BK Group Wisata according to Law Number. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection?, and How is the settlement of losses arising from consumer negligence in using car rental services based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection? This type of research is an empirical sociological survey, namely this research was conducted by the author directly in the field to obtain information and data related to the research that the author did. The data collection technique used in this study was interviews. The data obtained were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods which were then concluded using deductive conclusion drawing methods. While the nature of this research is descriptive, namely where this research provides a complete, detailed and clear description of legal protection for business actors in car rental services according to Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The location of the research is at BK Group Wisata Car Rental which is located at Jl. Tuanku Tambusai Taman Anggrek Complex Block-5. The results of this study, Legal protection for business actors in car rental services at BK Group Wisata according to Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection is by having a Car Rental Agreement, the rental agreement becomes a legal bond for the BK Group car rental owner with the car renter, and Settlement of losses arising from consumer negligence in using car rental services based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection is with compensation, In this case if the renter returns the car in a damaged condition then this is the same as the renter not carrying out what is stated and is his obligation in the agreement, namely maintaining, caring for and maintaining the condition of the car during the rental period.
