Abstract
Steam flooding is one of the thermal Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods generally applicable to heavy oil and high viscosity petroleum, making it difficult to flow also involves heat energy into the reservoir to increase oil temperature and reduce its viscosity. The effectiveness of steam flooding is influenced by several parameters in increasing oil recovery. Therefore, researchers will conduct a sensitivity analysis using CMG-STARS from several parameters and scenarios by obtaining the best scenario results to increase oil recovery. For this reason, this study conducted a simulation study using 3 injection well patterns, namely inverted five spots, inverted seven spots, and inverted nine spots using pressure variations of 500 psi, 1000 psi and 1500 psi in each different injection well. for all steam flooding processes, the temperature scenario is set at 450℉, with a steam quality of 90%. To determine the best scenario based on the highest cumulative oil and oil recovery factor by looking at the sensitivity of injection pressure and injection well patterns that can be applied to the R field. Based on the simulation results, the best scenario was obtained at the inverted seven spot with an injection pressure of 1500 psi, which produced a cumulative oil value of 832,708 bbl with an Oil Recovery Factor of 72.2%. Inverted seven spots proved to be more efficient so that they achieved the best oil recovery value.
