Abstract
oncrete is one of the most important construction materials in the construction industry. The sustainability of concrete production faces challenges due to the high demand for materials that generally come from nature such as coarse aggregates. The use of coarse aggregates from natural resources is increasingly raising concerns regarding sustainability and its impact on the environment. Therefore, this study focuses on the use of fossil wood (Petrifiet Wood) as a substitute for coarse aggregate in making concrete. Fossil wood (Petrifiet Wood) is wood residue that has been preserved for a long time, has lightweight properties and has the potential to be an environmentally friendly alternative in concrete production. This study used cylindrical samples. The percentage of fossil wood substitution material (Petrifiet Wood) used was 0%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the total weight of coarse aggregate. Each variation of fossil wood mixture used 3 samples. The method used for calculating the concrete mixture (Mix Design) is based on SNI 7656-2012 and the compressive strength test was carried out at the age of 28 days. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the higher the proportion of fossil wood (Petrifiet Wood) given, the lower the slump value. The decrease is caused by the smooth or slippery surface of the fossil wood (Petrifiet Wood), so that the concrete's ability to flow becomes easier. The results of the concrete compressive strength test decreased, namely 28.40 MPa (Normal Concrete), 23.40 MPa (50% fossil wood), 22.93 MPa (75% fossil wood) and 19.34 MPa (100% fossil wood). Despite the decrease, the compressive strength of the resulting concrete still meets the specified mix design planning standards, which is 19 MPa.
