Abstract

The increasing population in Pekanbaru City has also led to an increase in the number of private vehicles. This high growth in private vehicles can cause congestion, one of which is at the Tobek Godang Intersection in Binawidya District, where vehicle delays often occur during rush hour. This area is included in the dense commercial area because it is a shopping, office, and educational area. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of vehicle speeds on each road section at the intersection, as well as to identify the existing traffic performance. The research technique used is direct analysis and survey in the field for 7 (seven) for 1 week during peak hours. The data taken in the field are vehicle speed, traffic volume and intersection geometry which will be processed and analyzed using the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI 2023). The results of the analysis of the highest vehicle speed characteristics for Major Road A KS 28.35 km/h, MP 39.42 km/h, SM 44.67 km/h, Minor Road B KS 23.43 km/h, MP 39.95 km/h, SM 44.19 km/h, and Minor Road C KS 23.04 km/h, MP 39.19 km/h, SM 41.44 km/h. The results of the analysis of the performance of the existing intersection obtained the degree of saturation (DJ) of the U Approach 1.04, the T Approach 1.22, and the B Approach 1.28. The DJ value of the intersection has exceeded the standard limit by PKJI 2023, namely DJ ≤ 0.85. Approach U delay 75.08 sec/smp, Approach T 123.33 sec/smp, Approach B 147.89 sec/smp.
