Abstract

This study was motivated by the issue of low self-confidence among eighth-grade students at Islamic Junior High School Darul Ulum Sukaraja, where students were still found to lack confidence during the teaching and learning process. This included limited positive feedback between teachers and students during learning, an environment that was not conducive to boosting students' self-confidence, and a lack of recognition and rewards for students’ efforts. The purpose of this study was to determine how reward could influence students’ selfconfidence. The method used in this research was quantitative, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to eighth-grade students at Islamic Junior High School Darul Ulum Sukaraja. The sample consisted of 72 students. This study involved two variables: X (reward) and Y (self-confidence). The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that the results were statistically significant and acceptable. The magnitude of the influence could be seen in the summary table, where the R square value was 0.161 or 16.1%. This indicated that students’ self-confidence was influenced by reward by 16.1%, which falls into the “very low” category. Therefore, it was recommended that teachers continue to provide support and rewards to students to improve their selfconfidence, which in turn would positively impact their mental and academic development. Thus, this study showed that reward had an influence on students’ self-confidence at Islamic Junior High School Darul Ulum Sukaraja and highlighted the importance of the teacher’s role in creating a learning environment that supports student development.
