Abstract
This study aims to determine the symbolic meaning of the art form "Calempong Oguong" from an Islamic communication perspective. The theory used is Susanne Langer's symbolic theory. This study involved 10 individuals as subjects and employed a qualitative approach. Data were collected through documentation and interviews. The results indicate that Calempong Oguong is a traditional art form that goes beyond simply providing entertainment or being part of traditional ceremonies. This art form also has deep symbolic meaning because it reflects the cultural and spiritual values of the Kampar people in Riau. The symbolic meaning of Calempong Oguong is manifested through the carvings, colors, and the social context of the performance, which depicts the social structure of society, the value of deliberation, and the harmony between custom and religion. From an Islamic communication perspective, Calempong Oguong can be understood as a medium for conveying moral messages and Islamic values, such as etiquette, cooperation, and brotherhood.
