Abstract

Interpersonal communication is the process of exchanging information, feelings, and thoughts between two or more people through direct interaction. This communication involves listening, understanding, and responding appropriately, so as to build close and mutually supportive relationships. In the context of education, interpersonal communication between teachers and students plays a very important role in creating a comfortable, open, and conducive learning environment for students' social and emotional development. This study aims to analyze the role of teacher interpersonal communication in preventing bullying behavior at SD Negeri 01 Telaga Sam-Sam, Kandis District, Siak Regency. The phenomenon of bullying that often occurs in the school environment shows the importance of the role of teachers in creating a safe atmosphere and supporting children's development. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, which involves observation and interviews with the principal, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that effective interpersonal communication between teachers and students plays an important role in reducing bullying behavior in schools. Teachers who act as mediators can mediate conflicts and encourage peaceful problem solving, while as motivators, they provide encouragement for students to behave positively and dare to report bullying. In addition, as advisors and mentors, teachers are able to identify problems early and provide constructive solutions to students, both victims and perpetrators of bullying. By building good communication, teachers can also instill the values of empathy, tolerance, and mutual respect among students, so that a safer, more harmonious school environment is created and supports their social development. It is hoped that the results of this study can contribute to improving the quality of communication in overcoming bullying problems in elementary schools.
