Abstract

This research is entitled Effect of Palm Oil Palm Ashes (AJKS) and MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) on the Growth and Production of Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.). Under the guidance of Mrs. Ir. Hj. T. Rosmawaty, M.Sc. This research was carried out in a experimental garden at the Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru, for 4 months from September to December 2022. The aim of the study was to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of Abu Janjang Palm Oil and Monosodium glutamate (MSG) on the growth and production of cayenne pepper plants. (Capsicum frutescens L.). This study used a completely randomized design with 2 factors. The first factor was the Abu Janjang of Palm Oil (A) consisting of 4 treatment levels namely 0, 100, 200 and 300 g/plant. The second factor Monosodium Glutamate (M) consisted of 4 treatment levels 0, 3, 6 and 9 g/plant. Parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvesting age, fruit weight per plant, number of fruit per plant, and amount of fruit left over. Observational data were analyzed statistically and carried out by Follow-Up Test for Honest Significant Differences (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that in an interactive way the administration of Palm Abu Janjang and Monosodium Glutamate had a significant effect on plant height, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, flowering age, harvest age and number of fruit residue. The best treatment is found in (A3M3). The main effect of Palm Oil Janjang Abu has a significant effect on all observation parameters, with the best treatment being 300 g/plant. The main effect of Monosodium Glutamate has a significant effect on all observation parameters, with the best treatment being 9 g/plant.
