Abstract
This study addresses the phenomenon of the word “jancok” used by the migrant community in Belilas Village, which has undergone a shift in meaning from merely a crude insult to an expression with various emotional interpretations. In daily interactions, this word is employed not only to express anger but also to convey intimacy, admiration, sadness, and happiness. The research aims to describe the forms of use and meanings of “jancok” in different emotional contexts, as well as to examine the factors influencing its usage among the youth of Belilas Village. A descriptive qualitative method was applied, with data collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model. The findings reveal that the use of “jancok” across different ethnic groups in Belilas serves social functions such as signaling closeness, breaking the ice, and strengthening group solidarity, although it still carries a coarse connotation if used out of context or towards inappropriate recipients. In conclusion, within multicultural communication, the meaning of “jancok” is contextual and adaptive, and its use requires awareness of the situation, social relationships, and local cultural norms
