Abstract

This study aims to analyze how online media liputan 6 and detik.com frame news about the handling of Rohingya residents in Aceh. This study uses the discourse analysis theory of Teun A. Van Dijk which emphasizes three main structures and text structures. The qualitative approach used in this study shows that there are differences in the discourse strategies used by Liputan6 and Detik.com in forming social realities about the Rohingya issue. Liputan 6 tends to use framing about humanity that emphasizes aspects of protection, human rights and social needs. While Detik.com tends to use security framing that emphasizes aspects of border security and stability in Aceh after the arrival of Rohingya refugees. From the aspect of text structure, differences were found in the selection of titles, narrative focus.
