Abstract

This study aims to describe the social interactions among Pemain Game Online within the context of online gaming, which has increasingly evolved in the digital era. The shift from traditional games to online games has influenced the way individuals particularly adolescents and young adults engage in social interactions. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using survey methods, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 135 active online Pemain Game Online selected through purposive sampling. The instrument used is a social interaction scale covering five key aspects: interaction frequency, communication forms, quality of social relationships, and the impact on real-life interactions. The findings indicate that the majority of respondents fall into the moderate category of social interaction (41.38%), followed by high (28.6%) and very high (9.4%) categories. Analysis of each aspect shows that respondents demonstrate relatively frequent communication, moderate digital communication engagement, meaningful social involvement, and various real-life impacts. The study also finds that social interaction in online games contributes positively to the development of communication skills and the formation of new social relationships, especially for individuals with limited opportunities for direct interaction. These findings align with previous literature highlighting the role of online games as alternative social spaces. It can thus be concluded that online games serve not only as entertainment platforms but also as meaningful tools for fostering and sustaining social interaction in the digital age.
