Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the level of hedonistic lifestyle tendencies among students receiving the Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) Scholarship at the Islamic University of Riau. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach involving 157 participants from the 2021 and 2022 intakes. Data collection was conducted using a hedonism scale instrument structured around three main aspects: activities, interests, and opinions, reflecting the dimensions of consumptive behavior and orientation toward pleasure. The data analysis results indicate that the majority of students fall into the low to moderate hedonistic lifestyle category. However, a number of students were also found to have high hedonistic tendencies, particularly in certain groups. Demographic variables such as gender, age range, and faculty of origin were shown to contribute to differences in student hedonistic lifestyle patterns. These findings emphasize the importance of interventions in the form of character development and strengthening financial literacy to ensure that educational assistance funds are used optimally, responsibly, and in accordance with the original objectives of the scholarship program.
